Personalised Mexican Wedding Decorations
Add a personal touch to your wedding with customised papel picado decorations. These banners are handcrafted in Mexico and can include your names and wedding date cut directly into the design. When displayed across a venue, the banners create colour, movement, and a recognisable element of traditional Mexican celebration.
We work directly with artisans in Mexico who specialise in papel picado. Each banner is cut by hand using traditional tools, following a process that has been used for generations. By incorporating your details into the design, the decoration becomes both part of the celebration and a keepsake from the day.
The Tradition of Papel Picado
Papel picado means “perforated paper.” It is a traditional Mexican folk art where artisans cut detailed patterns into sheets of paper using chisels and small hammers. The designs are then strung together to form decorative banners used in weddings, festivals, and holidays.
For personalised wedding banners, artisans integrate your names and wedding date into the cut pattern. This keeps the traditional style of papel picado while adding a custom element specific to your event.
Customisation Options
You can choose colours and materials that fit your wedding setting.
Colour selection
Banners can be made in a single colour such as white, or in multiple colours that match your wedding theme.
Material options
- Tissue paper. Lightweight and traditional. Best suited for indoor venues where the banners can hang freely.
- Plastic. More durable and weather resistant. Suitable for outdoor use and can be kept as a long-term keepsake.
Included Matching Waving Flags
Each order of personalised bunting also includes 50 matching waving flags at no additional cost. These smaller flags feature the same names and wedding date as the main banner.
They can be used in several ways. As table decorations, attached to centrepieces, or handed to guests during the celebration. Many couples also use them as simple wedding favours.
Ordering and Production
Once you select your material, colours, and text, we coordinate with our partner artisans in Mexico to produce the banners.
Production and delivery typically take about four weeks. Orders are shipped worldwide using a tracked courier service. The banners arrive ready to hang.
If you have questions about colours, materials, or custom text, our team can help before the order is placed.
